ABOUT MALTA

The Maltese archipelago lies virtually at the centre of the Mediterranean, 93 km south of Sicily and 288 km north of Africa. The archipelago consists of three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino with a total population of over 500,000 inhabitants occupying an area of 316 square kilometers.

Malta is the largest island and the cultural, commercial and administrative centre. Gozo is the second largest island and is more rural, characterised by fishing, tourism, crafts and agriculture. Comino, the smallest of the trio, is largely uninhabited.

With superbly sunny weather, attractive beaches, a thriving nightlife and 7,000 years of intriguing history, there is a great deal to see and do.

TYPICAL CAMP DAY

We have 3 hours of daily training sessions split into 2 training sessions of 1.5 hours each. One training is in the morning and the other training is in the evening.

After the first training session of the day (which is between 8:30 – 10 am) , time is reserved for players to enjoy and relax at the beach. Players will have free-time to spend with their coaches or families (if their families accompany them) until 5 pm.

Dinner is booked for 6 pm and after the dinner players will have time to relax and prepare for their evening training session (which is held between 7:30 – 9 pm).

After training, the players will have a minibus to transport them back to the hotel, were they will enjoy some more free time.

All in all, every minute of our camp has a lot of interesting activities after fun-filled training sessions.

OUTDOOR TRAINING FACILITY

This Summer we have decided to train at this brand-new open-air court located in Pembroke which is only 10 minutes away from Topaz hotel. A minibus will be provided for players and coaches. Our outdoor court also has floodlights for evening training sessions.

MDINA AND BLUE GROTTO

4 hour tour – EUR 40 (including boat ticket in Blue Grotto):

MDINA

Mdina is the former capital city of Malta, before Valletta existed, in Medieval times. Mdina has been stuck in a time warp ever since. It’s a tiny place that is completely closed in with high city walls, which is how it earned its nickname of ‘the silent city.

Mdina is a truly fascinating, enchanting city with limestone buildings, colourful doors, a strong religious community and lots of hidden stories lurking in the winding streets.

BLUE GROTTO

The Blue Grotto is a complex of seven caves found along the southern coast of the island.

The place actually got its name in the 1950s, when a British soldier visiting the area and compared it to Capri’s famous Grotta Azzura, which basically means ‘Blue Grotto’, because of its amazing clear, bright blue waters (particularly at a specific time of day – more on that later on).

This complex comprises of a massive (and very impressive) main arch, which is approximately 30m in height, as well as a system of 6 other caves, amongst which you will find the Honeymoon Cave, the Cat’s Cave and the beautiful Reflection Cave.
